Welcome to Team Apex

On this page we highlight our CEO and team ambassadors

Andrew McDonald

Name : Andrew McDonald

Age : 35

Location : Hobart - Tasmania

Position : CEO of APEX SPORTS

The creation of Apex sports started bout 5 years ago When Andrew was looking through the internet and trying to find grips for his back yard set-up. He was blown away at the cost of the grips and thought he would be able to make them himself as he is a qualified carpenter and welder

As he continued on his grip making journey and posting up online some of the grips he had made it gained the interest of a few people, So he started selling a couple of grips here and there

Apex sports started off as Tassie Ninja And Calisthenics, which is a name still held close to him as it was always meant to be for a gym which has been his big dream as there are no ninja warrior gyms in Hobart Tasmania

As the months went by the amount of grips being sold were increasing, A name change had to be made and that’s when Apex Sports was born , Since the name change the amount of grips sold has made him HAVE to look for a warehouse as Apex does not only sell grips , They are Australia's leading design and manufacturer of Ninja warrior obstacles , OCR obstacles and calisthenics
equipment

Apex Sports is now known on the international stage as they have sent orders off to the Philippines , America and places in Europe

Apex has also been signed off from FISO , ( federation
international de sports obstacles ) as an approved supplier of ninja equipment for gyms , training facilities , fitness facilities, consumer use, competitions and show's

With the expansion of the business into a warehouse many more high tech machines will be purchased to create even bigger and better obstacles than before

Andrew has also had a decent ninja warrior career as in 201 and 2019 he was crowned Ninja champion in Tasmania and was also featured on the
TV show Australian Ninja Warrior in season 5

Today his main focus is growing Apex and the sport of ninja warrior itself. There is lots going on behind the scene and Apex has the right contacts to pave the way and be the leaders in the industry

My reasons for getting into Ninja Warrior Obstacle Sports is to use my body to the most potential I can because some of us aren’t quite as lucky and don’t have the ability to.
My mother was always active and into sports however her life drastically changed when she was diagnosed with a neuromuscular autoimmune disease called Myasthenia Gravis. I saw her go from being very physically fit, to unable to walk or stand on her own two feet, or even lift her arms to brush her hair or eat. She has had to endure many years of chemotherapy and side effects from medications.
My mother continues to inspire me as no matter how hard her days have been with MG she doesn’t give up. So I wanted to show her that I don’t take for granted being able to do the things I can do, and will be strong for her. I will use my body to its full potential because she can’t.

I am currently studying my cert III & IV in Fitness & PT, Just completed a nutrition course, and plan on continuing to learn as much as I can about different sports, nutrition and body movements to improve my Ninja skills and everyday fitness.
I hope to one day be able to go to the Olympic Games as an elite Athlete and take out a gold medal in World Obstacle Racing.
I would also love to have the chance to appear on the TV series Australian Ninja Warrior and conquer Mt Midoriyama, and I plan on continuing my dedication and training to the sport to help get me to the top.

A few highlights of my career in Ninja Warrior so far are:
Placing in the National Finals of NCL as a 14 year old, securing a spot in the World Championships
( unfortunately covid stopped me from going )
Winning multiple NPF Competitions against some of the states best Athletes.
Winning my Age category in Spartan events in 2019, and 2021.
Winning state qualifiers for ANG.
And recently winning the Nation Championship for 2022 ANG Finals.

I can’t wait to continue to train hard and see where this year can get me.
